Role Based Skills

Overview

The Leadership Academy are currently providing and in the process of developing a number of role specific courses. We are also promoting the expansion of further local role specific programmes within the MPS business groups. This page will be updated as this work progresses.

The role of the sergeant and inspector on an operational basis remains a challenging and ever demanding position. In order to support newly promoted sergeants and inspectors, two specific modules have been designed to assist officers in dealing with the core operational functions of a sergeant and inspector in the workplace.

Delegates will attend their rank specific module upon completion of the ‘Leading Our People’ element. The subject matter has been identified specifically for operational officers. Subjects vary from briefings and basic supervision to critical and major incidents. Delegates are provided with the policies and procedures in relation to the subject and then given the opportunity to practically apply their knowledge to real-life scenarios.
